Hey guys, I’m sorry it’s been a while since my last roundup. I’ve been a bit busy to paint these days. Lots of artists block as well but we’re moving past that.
Working with abstraction
Apparently, “all artists go through a hyper-realism phase,” or so the incredibly pretentious have told me. Either way, I guess my hyper-realism phase is coming to an end. These days, I’m more interested in mastering color. As a first attempt, I’ve created this painting of swans and these oranges (the oranges took 10 minutes and were made of leftover paint… no judgment) . NGL it’s really not as hard as hyperrealism and takes way less time, but we’ll see.

Fruit Girls
Other than my experiments with abstraction, I’ve also been doing some work with another zine and exploring the shelf life of women by comparing them to fruit…. I’m still fleshing out the idea but I like some of the art so far. The project may not work out, however, due to a lack of a consistent color palette and theme (back to my original comment on focusing on color)

I swear I’m not doing nothing
Just cause I don’t have much to share doesn’t mean I’ve been doing nothing (I promise). I think it’s essential to show the drafts that get done and the ones that get abandoned, so here are some half-drafts that got abandoned because I didn’t like the intensity of the colors

On to the next week!
